Showjumping News

Showjumping 2017

The annual Inter-school showjumping competition took place at Ballyrafter, Lismore yesterday. The Friary has been very successful in this event in the past. St Augustine’s College was represented by Shane Moloney, Hugo Harty and Mark Moloney and to their credit finished in second place. Congratulations to you all and chef d’équipe, Louise Moloney.

St Augustine’s College 2nd Year Girls’ Football team who secured a seven point victory over Árd Scoil na Déise in a challenge match yesterday. Well done girls and mentors Ms Lisa Hanrick and Ms Angela Walsh.

 Our U15 hurlers had a convincing win in the 1st rd of the Munster Championship last week beating SMGS Blarney in Killeagh. We did the bulk of our scoring in the 1st half and had a comfortable lead at half time. It was a more even 2nd half and we eventually won out on a score line of 5 10 – 1 08. Next up we play Colaiste an Trionoide Youghal in the quarter final.

For the first time since 2009, St Augustine's College are the Munster C hurling champions. After some near misses and much heartbreak in the last few years, this determined group of Friary students have returned the Friary to the winners list in Munster Colleges Hurling.

Former Friary student smashes Inter-Varsity Pole Vault Record

Congratulations to past pupil, Thomas Houlihan who yesterday set a new record of 4.71m in the Inter-Varsity pole vault event. Thomas still holds the record for this event at schools level. A mention also for Bro Patrick Lennon OSA Thomas’ former coach and mentor, well to both of you.
