Our senior footballers travelled to University of Limerick last Wednesday to play St. Michael’s of Listowel in the Munster Senior B football semi- final. The last time the two sides met St. Augustine’s were victorious beating St. Michaels in a Munster C final.

Munster Colleges’ Camogie Senior “D”

Our Senior Girls’ Camogie team secured The Friary’s first ever camogie cup when they defeated Coláiste an Chroí Naofa, Carrignavar in an exciting final at Rathpeacan, Co. Cork last weekend. The girls trailed by three points at half time, but put up a spirited display in a second half and the title of Munster Senior Colleges’ Camogie Senior “D” champions. Congratulations to all the squad on an historic victory and to team coaches Ms Lisa Hanrick and Mr Jason Forrestall.

Showjumping News



Congratulations to The Friary Showjumping Team who won the annual Interschool’s Showjumping Competition at Ballinamona Equestrian Centre on Sunday, December 13th. Team members Orla Queally on Dawn Dusty Shane Moloney on Valtaire, Mark Moloney on Two Tone Tom fought off stiff competition to secure the top prize. Many thanks to Chef d’Equipe, Louise Moloney Colligan Equestrian Centre.

Junior Ladies Football “A” Championship

On Friday, January 15th, our Junior Ladies Footballers had a great win over Christ King Girls’ Secondary School, Cork in the “A” quarter final. The team travelled to Glanmire accompanied by team mentors; Ms Lisa Hanrick and Mr Paul Whyte. Despite inclement conditions, the team battled hard and with conviction emerging as deserving winners on a scoreline of 3-9 to 3-3. Loreto College, Fermoy are their opponents in the semi-final. Well done to all the squad on an impressive victory.

Waterford on Ice trip for 1st Years

With their Christmas exams behind them the 1st Year students travelled to Waterford-on- Ice and  had a fun day on the ice-skating rink.Accompanied by Bro Patrick Lennon OSA (pictured below) and Ms Lisa Hanrick the students clearly enjoyed themselves.

Senior hurling came to a disappointing end on Wednesday last. Playing against Colaiste Chriost Rí, Cork, The friary boys started well putting 1-4 on the board without reply. CCR then found their rhythm and took the lead before half time. The second half was hard work and CCR dominated at different stages. Our boys gave it their all and fought to the bitter end unfortunately it wasn’t to be their day. We lost on a score of 3-8 to 1-9. Thanks to all the players for a great effort throughout the year. Thanks also to team coaches Ms Lisa Hanrick and Mr Jason Forrestal.
