Upcoming TY Activities


With only a few weeks remaining for Transition Year students, co-ordinator Ms Nollaig Sheehan has a hectic schedule planned including an Interview Skills workshop, the County Final of Wheelchair Basketball, the Pieta House Darkness to Light Walk, YLP Gala night. Students will also be sitting their Food Hygiene exam. Lots to keep them busy until year end.

 "Home Tweet Home" team l/r Ms Heather Boyle, Tom Looby, Oisin Keevers, James Beresford and Darragh McGrath.


While our students did not take the top award in this competition, Lisa Maher’s 'Touch Wood' and the 'Home Tweet Home' group won commendation prizes. Lauryn Burns Leonard and Gráinne Curran won the innovation award for “choc o bloc”. Well done to all and many thanks to Ms Heather Boyle, Business Studies teacher who helped the teams prepare for the competition.

"Cope Smart"

Rachel Kenny from UCD recently visited the school as part of her Phd research into mental health and Irish teenagers. Both TY and Fifth year students downloaded a new app on their phones called"Cope Smart" designed to see how useful an app would be in relation to dealing with mental health.

T.Y. trip to Poland

TY Poland

A group of Transition Year students enjoyed a four day trip to Krakow, Poland over the Easter break. Accompanied by Príomhoide Ailbhe Ní Neachtain, Mr Jim Power (Deputy Principal), Ms Nollaig Sheehan (TY Co-ordinator), Ms Shiovaun O’Sullivan and Fr Gerry Horan OSA, the group visited Auschwitz concentration camp where they met with a camp survivor. They also enjoyed a tour of the city of Krakow and the Wieliczka Salt Mine. Thanks to Ms Nollaig Sheehan who organised the trip.

Waterford Festival of Food

Debating News – Concern Playoffs


Debating News – Concern Playoffs

Pictured is the Transition Year debating team, Rian O' Reilly, Shane Coleman, Jordan Corby and Owen O' Hara who took part in the Concern Debate Playoffs against the Presentation Secondary School Loughboy recently. Many thanks to Ms Karen Clancy (mentor) and Ms Nollaig Sheehan (TY Co-Coordinator) who accompanied the team on the night. While our team does not proceed to the finals they certainly did the school proud to have reached the playoff stages. The Concern Debates is Concern Worldwide flagship schools activity. It gives students the opportunity to research and debate issues that affect those living in the developing world.


"Beauty and the Bike" Workshop


NollaigOn Monday 26th of January the TY girls took part in a workshop organised by Dara Deever from Go Dungarvan Smarter Travel to encourage more girls to cycle to school. The workshop was called " Beauty and the Bike".
